Stormy Daniels Launches Fundraiser to Help Pay Legal Tab

LOS ANGELES — Stormy Daniels new fundraising website became active today.

The adult superstar is seeking to cover the legal costs of getting out of a confidentiality agreement she made with President Trump’s attorney.

On her fundraising site, Daniels said: “I need funds to pay for: attorneys' fees; out-of-pocket costs associated with the lawsuit, arbitration, and my right to speak openly; security expenses; and damages that may be awarded against me if I speak out and ultimately lose to Mr. Trump and Mr. Cohen.”

“I am more fortunate than many, many people in this country. And for that I am grateful. But unfortunately, I do not have the vast resources to fight Mr. Trump and Mr. Cohen alone. Thank you for supporting me.”

Daniels accepted $130,000 from Trump attorney Michael Cohen in exchange for her silence about an alleged relationship with the president before he took office. She now is suing Trump over the nondisclosure agreement, seeking to get out of it so that she can openly speak about the alleged relationship.

Daniels’ deal with Cohen called for private arbitration to settle any disputes and a penalty of $1 million each time the agreement is violated.

The online fundraiser, some media reports said, is the latest move by Daniels’s new attorney, Michael Avenatti, in a sweeping public relations offensive.

That offensive includes his frequent TV appearances, brash comments on social media, and an interview Daniels gave last week to CBS’s “60 Minutes.”

Avenatti teased the interview Wednesday morning by posting a photo on Twitter of Daniels and “60 Minutes” correspondent Anderson Cooper chatting it up under the bright lights placed by a TV crew.
